The Democratization of Service Delivery

Government Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) Geeta Meena tells a story of her village Swaton Ka Guda. Previously, there were certain leaders of the village who refused to allow their wives, children and  other family members to go to the immunization camps. Instead, they ordered the ANMs to come to their homes to deliver services. Since the introduction of the Khushi Baby system in the village, Geeta has informed them that she cannot take the Khushi Baby tablet to individual homes. At first, they resisted and told Geeta to send the tablet to their homes anyway. Geeta stood her ground and told them it was not possible. As a result, these leaders have since sent their family members to the immunization camps, thereby democratizing the delivery process so that each member of the community has access to the same care and service delivery.
